Didn’t they do well!

A-level students at Kings-bridge Community College have set a new record, reaching the highest ever pass rate.
A total of 137 students contributed towards the 99.7 per cent pass rate, with 54 per cent of all entries at the top A/B grades.
Twelve students gained at least three A grades with Kingsbridge Gazette village correspondent Jenny Sterry, from Malborough, topping the class, receiving 4 As and a B.
The new A* grade has been introduced this year and in order to achieve this level students had to gain over 90 per cent in their final exams – which eight per cent of students managed.
High achievers include Alex Smith, who will be reading chemistry at Oxford, Jack Baxter, who will study medicine at Cambridge and Katherine Shepherd, who will also attend Cambridge to study natural sciences.
Principal Roger Pope said: ‘We are delighted that students have done so well.

Dartmouth Regatta chairman Jim Brent has hailed the ‘fantastic’ spirit of the sporting competitors at this year’s event.
Whether it was rowing or tennis, sailing or road-racing, Mr Brent said all the activities were ‘fiercely competitive, but played with a real camaraderie. I think that’s what makes Dartmouth Regatta rare,’ he said.
‘The local rowing featured some gut-busting races, but what was nice was that everybody congratulated those who won.
‘I’m absolutely delighted. The camaraderie and repartee are what make Dartmouth Regatta very special.’
