Civic Square also known as Market square at the centre of Totnes high street was the scene of a multi-agency response this afternoon.

Emergency services were called at 12.40pm today to High Street, Totnes, following reports of concern for the welfare of a man.

A spokesperson from the Police said: "A man in his 50s was confirmed deceased at the scene.

"His next of kin have been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
