A CARING 10 year old from South Brent has made sacrifices and taken on a physical challenge this February to raise even more money for a local charity.

Still amazing Gracie Clayton decided to set herself the challenge of giving up something she loves, and doing something she hates to raise money for South Brent and District Caring.

So for the whole of February she gave up chocolate, which she loves, and finished the month with a gruelling walk from her home in the village to the Avon Dam, and back again on Sunday.

Her mum Samantha Clayton, who volunteers for the local charity, said that Gracie had done very well, even avoiding chocolate biscuit cake. She was joined for the walk by mum, dad and her two brothers, completing the 10 miles in four and a half hours.

She has raised £150 for South Brent and District Caring.

Last year Gracie raised £192 by selling cakes at the local health centre during the flu clinics. She also helped out during the Family Fun Dog Show organised to raise funds for the charity.

Samantha said: ‘She’s a very kind hearted, generous young girl who has shown determination and strength during this task, and I think she deserves a huge pat on the back.’
