A GROUP of staff and supporters of an Ivybridge nursing home have raised more than £500 with a garden party and sponsored walk.

Residents, relatives and friends of Beaconville Nursing Home enjoyed a sunny garden party in the grounds, while a group of five intrepid adventurers completed a sponsored walk.

Taking on the challenge were manager Anne Taylor, activities and training coordinator Morag Rowse, and relatives and friends Graham and Pauline Luckraft and Sheila Friend.

The five walked around the outskirts of Ivybridge, their route taking in the ’puffing billy’ track, Bittaford, Cantrell, Filham and Longtimber Woods.

They sought sponsorship for the walk, and money was also raised with a barbecue, refreshments, a tombola and cake stall. The proceeds of the day will go towards improving activities for residents at the home.

A good day was had by all, and the Friends of Beaconville extended their thanks to those who continue to support the home.
