Richard Baylay, of Cabourg Close, Salcombe, writes:
What a lovely idea, Fore Street in Salcombe pedestrianised. I’m sure the summer visitors would be thrilled to bits.
If Rosemount Garage had been turned into a multistorey for shoppers’ and residents’ cars, and if there were a relief road along to the foreshore or behind Fore Street for deliveries, this would probably be possible, but as things stand, I think a decision like this would have to be reversed quite quickly.
I can remember when Fore Street was two-way. Just think what that would be like now.
What I do think would be viable is to make Island Street one-way – something I have advocated for more than 50 years. It would relieve a lot of frustration.
