Over 100 guests attended the annual Dame Hannahs Autumn Lunch at Boringdon Park Golf Club and helped to raise £1894 for the adults supported by the Trust.
Guests were given a lunch and the chance to shop at a variety of gift stalls before listening to a talk by local crime writer Helena Dixon.
The Brixham-based author gave a lively and engaging insight into the intriguing world of classic crime fiction set in 1930s and 1940s Devon.
Speaking after the event, Ms Dixon said: “I was delighted to be able to support such a wonderful charity which does such amazing work and to talk about my latest book, The Crossword Murders, as well as my other work and life as a crime writer.”
Ms Dixon explained how she has merged historical facts with fiction to create the challenging mysteries that readers can enjoy in her latest series of books - The Secret Detective Agency.
Rachael Koka from the Dame Hannahs Fundraising Team said: “We are so grateful to all involved for helping us to organise another wonderful event enabling us to raise such an amazing amount for Dame Hannahs.”
The Dame Hannah Rogers Trust, one of the oldest charities in the UK, has been providing services to enrich and empower the lives of disadvantaged and disabled people for nearly 260 years.
The charity relies on over £1 million annually from fundraising, community events, local charity shops, challenges, and donations to keep its services running.
Previous efforts have enabled the charity to update its sensory and therapy spaces, offering disadvantaged and disabled adults a state of the art space to grow and develop within a safe environment.
