IVYBRIDGE Town Council is looking for individuals and groups that have had an impact on the community as it seeks nominations for this year’s citizen of the year and community group of the year awards.

The David Britton Citizen of the Year Award 2016 and The Nick Cummins Community Group of the Year Award 2016 will be given to those the council feel have provided valuable input into the community, and made a difference through their involvement in the town.

Ivybridge mayor Cllr Dave Gray-Taylor said: ‘There are many unsung heroes who work away, often behind the scenes, but who are making an impact on the community. The council urges people to think who would be worthy recipients of the citizen of the year and the community group of the year award.’

The awards are open to volunteers only, and as in previous years people living outside the town can be nominated, although they must have provided a service valued by people in Ivybridge.

To nominate individuals or groups please write to Ivybridge Town Council, Erme Court, Leonards Road, Ivybridge, PL21 0SZ, or email [email protected], giving full details including name/group, address and reasons why they should receive such an award. Please also include your own name and address.

Nominations will be considered by the town council at its October meeting, and winners will receive a presentation from the mayor towards the end of the year.

All entries must be received by Friday, October 14.
