AN Ivybridge primary school is celebrating following the publication of an Ofsted report that judged it to be outstanding in every respect.

The report, which follows an inspection of Manor Primary School carried out in February, says that the school has ’improved rapidly’ since the last visit in December 2013 when it was deemed to ’require improvement’.

And inspectors were clear about the cause of the transformation, heaping praise in the report on the leadership of head Karen Dixon, who became head teacher in September 2013.

The report calls Mrs Dixon’s leadership ’inspirational’, and says she has created a ’can-do culture’ that has been embraced by her staff and pupils. Her leadership ’has motivated and supported all staff and pupils to aim for excellence’ and created ’an expectation that all children can succeed’.

According to the report, the school provides ’an outstanding quality of education for all pupils, including those who have special educational needs or disability’.

The glowing Ofsted report means parents in Ivybridge now have a choice of outstanding schools, after a March 2015 inspection found Woodlands Park Primary in the town to be similarly outstanding in all categories.

In October 2013, Ivybridge Community College was also found to be outstanding.
