South Brent Judo Club recently held two grading sessions, the first of which was for four senior players.
This took place on a training night to fit in with work, family and study commitments.
The fantastic four of Matt Upton, Jo Small, Sam Smith and Oli Michelin all graded to fifth kyu.
At the second grading session 12 players from South Brent and Ivybridge judo clubs presented themselves for promotion to the next grade.
The following were successful: Edie Grower and Nathan Lake successfully moved from first mon to second mon and Jamie Shipp and Kiya Butler moved from third to fourth mon.
Hannah Munday and Zoe Butler earned their sixth mon and Pierre Michelin earned his ninth. Josh Shipp progressed to 11th mon, Kolya Schwinge to 12th, Tom Smith to 14th and Lewis Widdicombe to 15th mon. Jonathan Westcott (IJC) earned his fifth kyu.
South Brent players will be competing at the Cornish Open in Polkyth on July 19.
The Cornish open is a fantastic, friendly event perfect for newer judoka to test their skills.
