Superior finishing was the difference between Elburton Villa and Ivybridge Town when the two sides met at Haye Road.

Goals from Lee Doel and Joe Truelove saw the Ivies’ promising form continue.

Villa did have their chances, but failed to ­convert, which leaves them with just one league victory out of eight games played.

Josh Oak prevented Sam Carter and Matt Slinger from giving Villa an early lead, which in turn allowed Doel’s low shot from the edge of the 18-yard box to squeak in.

Oak again was called on immediately after the restart to thwart Sam Carter. Truelove then pounced to secure the win from close-range on 66 minutes.

The Ivies’ Mark Bonney was dismissed after a poor challenge, but this made no difference to the scoreline, with the unflappable Oak remaining unbeaten.
