Modbury Rovers

Hooe Rovers U16s 0
Modbury started the game full of confidence and unbeaten but this was always going to be a tough game.
From the first whistle it was end to end, but it looked like Modbury would break the deadlock.
Hooe tried to respond, but Modbury’s centre-backs Holt and Bodman were there to cancel out any threat down the middle and the backs of Weeks and Edgecombe shut off the wings.
Modbury were trying to get a foothold of the game as Louis Brace gambled for a ball coming over the top from Miles Hurt; his effort paid off and he burst into the box to square for Eades, who tapped home the opener.
The first half saw saves from both ‘keepers but ended with Modbury holding strong.
The second half started much the same, with Hooe stepping up a gear to try and break Modbury down.
However, it was Modbury who broke through first. A few quick passes by Hurt, Fountain and Cox saw the latter split the Hooe central defence with a precise ball that Eades took and hammered into the bottom corner to double the lead.
Any attempt by Hooe to counter was wiped out by the best back four in the league and in-form ‘keeper Ethan King.
At the other end of the pitch Modbury’s midfield were starting to push Hooe deeper and deeper, forcing good saves from Cox, Berry, Brace and Hurt.
As the final whistle drew nearer, Cox set man-of-the-match Hurt free. He hit a diagonal ball from the right side of the area that Eades completed his hat-trick.
Modbury wrapped up a nine-game unbeaten streak with a third clean sheet in a row.
