The veterans played a flag competition on Thursday.

Barry Watts got to the 18th green while Pete Swift finished in the greenside bunker on the 18th and Ken Dedman on the 18th fairway. 30 Vets entered the event.

The last major event was played last Satur­day, the Jubilee Cup, a greensomes format. The conditions were not easy at all due to the high winds and rain, but Dave Beer and Tim Nand-Lal carded 41 points to earn victory.

They were followed by A Freeman and J Axten with 37 points on count back from N Parker and T Hall.

They in turn won on countback from H Nor­manton and J Morris. In fifth place, one point behind places second to fourth, were J Wright and S New­berry with 36.
