National League Three South West
Salisbury 29,
Ivybridge 31
Ivybridge showed their courage to win a nail-biting encounter last weekend and end 2016 on a high note.
The Bridge were 15 points adrift with a quarter of an hour left and seemingly dead and buried, but two converted tries and a penalty later were celebrating a comeback Lazarus would be proud of.
The Pinkus brothers proved Salisbury’s undoing, Mitch scoring the try in stoppage time which levelled the scores and left brother Billy with a tricky conversion to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
He held his nerve to seal the win which secures Ivybridge’s hold on fourth place in the table, six points behind the teams above them, who are all tied on 54 points.
Before the stunning comeback, Ivybridge had been below par, but in the end a try from Slade and a brace from Jordan Anderton, all converted by Billy Pinkus, gave the Bridge a bonus-point victory that will be remembered long in the minds of Ivybridge supporters.
