A record-breaking number of South Brent Judo Club judoka – judo students – presented for grading to the next grade earlier this month. In total 22 judoka from South Brent Judo Club and one from Ivybridge Judo Club were successful.
Dylan Lyndley and Arwen Pringle made the step up from novice to 1st Mon, the initial grade of 18, as recognised by the British Judo Association.
Lottie Grundy, Martha Upton, Xanthe Kilroy-Silk and William Nolan moved from 1st to 2nd Mon.
Sarah Ford, Bryon Mahni, Edie Grower and Nathan Lake achieved their 3rd Mon; and Jamie Ship, Maddox Callard and Finn Stephenson their 5th.
Harry Parris of Ivybridge Judo Club moved to 6th Mon; Pierre Michelin earned his 10th Mon; Cerys Callard achieved her 11th Mon; Kolya Schwinge and Josh Shipp got their 13th Mon; Tom Smith achieved his 15th Mon; and Lewis Widdicombe his 16th.
Jade Dove and Josh Dibbins moved from novice to 6th Kyu, the senior grade. Scarlet Hodge moved from 13th Mon to 2nd Kyu.
South Brent Judo Club coaches Steve Squire and Pete Whitfield said they are extremely proud of the judoka’s achievements and admire the commitment shown by all of them in demonstrating their skills and technical knowledge.
If you are interested in taking part in judo, classes are held in Ivybridge and South Brent for all ages, from seven to 70.
