A FIRE believed to have been started deliberately ripped through a caravan in Wrangaton last weekend.
Just after 5.30am, Ivybridge firefighters were called to reports of a fire in the open in the Wrangaton area. The station’s Rapid Intervention Unit and fire engine were dispatched, and upon arrival found a small touring caravan well alight in the middle of a large area of waste ground.
The fire was extinguished using one hose reel jet initially, before a fire hydrant was located to provide further water.
The crew also confirmed LPG cylinders were involved in the fire, and used ground monitors to monitor and cool them.
By 6.36am the fire had been fully extinguished, by which time the caravan had been completely destroyed.
