THE staff at Nicholas hair salon in Modbury had a lucky escape last weekend, when a car rolled into the front of their shop.

Kingsbridge Police were called to the scene, along with fire crews from Modbury and Ivybridge shortly after the incident on Saturday, March 12 at 4.15pm.

Sgt David Green, neighbourhood team leader at Kingsbridge Police explained: ‘The handbrake failed on one vehicle, which caused it to roll into another car that ended up smashing into the salon.

‘We would always recommend you leave your car in gear, as well as applying a handbrake when parking on a hill.’
