THE family of a disabled woman in Kingsbridge, who was the victim of the theft of sentimental jewellery, is offering a ‘significant reward’ for information.
The family have become aware that a neighbour has CCTV cameras that may be instrumental in identifying the perpetrator, but the window of opportunity for the theft is large, between July 20 and September 2, so this could take a while and they are calling this the offender’s ‘last chance’.
The family are continuing to offer immunity to the person responsible if the highly sentimental items are returned, and a ‘significant reward’ for information leading to the recovery of the items or the prosecution of those involved.
The daughter of the victim said: ‘This is our last offer of immunity to whoever took the jewellery. Please leave it somewhere and tell the police, or hand it in anonymously. We are offering a substantial reward.’
The theft of highly sentimental items from the 78-year-old woman, who was left severely disabled by a stroke, has left her ‘devastated’, with the items being helpful to her for sparking memories of her life as well as being personally irreplaceable.
Among some of the items taken were some very recognisable pieces. One was a large emerald and diamond cluster ring, another a gentleman’s signet ring in the initials RLO, there was also a circular pearl broach, an amber necklace belonging to her mother, gold drop earrings ending in a teardrop diamond and lots of gold chains, bracelets and rings.
Although the jewellery is worth a considerable amount of money, the main loss is to the owner, for whom the items held massive sentimental value, including the jewellery box itself that was passed down from her own mother on her 21st birthday, and some of her late husband’s rings, including his wedding ring.
If you know anything about this incident, you can contact the police on 101 – anonymously if preferred – and quote crime number: 062027/15.
If you are offered anything resembling the above pieces, please contact the police, and if you are in possession of the items, please return them.
