Two international navy officer cadets clocked up 99 speeding points between them in just four months.

The two men, Tameem Mohammed Al-Ishaq and Ahmed Al-Mahmoud, both aged 20 from Qatar, gave their address as Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth.

They were due to appear in court in Newton Abbot on Friday, February 1, charged with 25 counts of speeding between them but neither appeared and both were sentenced in their absence.

Al-Ishaq was charged with 15 counts of speeding between May and July 2018, one of which was doing 54mph in a 30mph zone in Plymouth city centre.

He was found guilty and fined a total of £7,810 and ordered to pay a £77 victim surcharge and £85 costs. He racked up a total of 61 points on his licence and was banned from driving for four years.

Al-Mahmoud was charged with 10 counts between April and June 2018, one of which was driving at 97mph in a 70mph zone on Haldon Hill.

He was found guilty and fined a total of £4,840 and ordered to pay a £77 victim surcharge and £85 costs. He racked up 38 points on his licence and was banned from driving for four years.See Friday's paper for the full story....
