Thanks to Mark Lawrence’s research, we now know exactly how the new housing allocation numbers in the joint local plan have been calculated.

It seems that 2,000 additional units have been added unjustifiably to the numbers for the South Hams under various totally illogical and unacceptable headings in order to meet the area’s target for new housing. It is clear that the South Hams has been stitched up by the Plymouth-based strategic planners.

Two important questions arise: was South Hams District Council aware of the make-up of the allocation, and if not why not?; and why did SHDC accept and approve the allocation without challenging its authenticity?

We deserve answers.
