Judith Hilditch, of East Portlemouth, writes: May I correct the statement about the swimming photograph in Delving into the Past, Gazette, May 8. The houses on the right of the picture are definitely in Salcombe. Castle Point off Sandhills and Ellerslie off Cliff Road. I walk past them on the way to Hazeldene School. As for East Portlemouth, has South West Water agreed to improve the drainage and sewerage for Kingsbridge and West Alvington to take the outlets from the houses, roads and standings of K5? This is not only to alleviate the horrific flooding in Kingsbridge, but also the trail of smelly scum all the way down the Bag and the best beaches in the estuary. If the head of the estuary had not been filled with the car park and square, there would have been somewhere for some of the spring tides to go. So don't fill it up any more.
