B GRANGER, of Chillington, writes:

I feel anger that Richard Lloyd’s letter, Gazette, August 14, says I should write to my MP suggesting more compassion for migrants, illegal or otherwise, coming to the UK.

The only letter my MP will get from me is for her to inform the prime minister that Britain is full and to stop helping the rest of the world.

All we ever hear about are cutbacks and more cutbacks, so let’s start by cutting back on the huge amount of money wasted on sympathy for these people.

We are already giving billions of pounds in foreign aid – there is only so much compassion one can be expected to give. Shouldn’t charity begin at home?

Over the past 20 years or so we have seen our culture diluted by all kinds of immigrants.

I recently travelled through Calais and witnessed hundreds of migrants climbing over lorries like ants, intimidating the drivers and their businesses. A frightening encounter.

During the war the Germans tried to invade us, but were unsuccessful, so how come these people are already here and still invading every day?

Borders have to be closed. Maybe their plight is sad, but why don’t they try Australia and see how they get on? They have more room than us.

The message is clear: Britain is full, and if you don’t believe me, try travelling on the A379 between Kingsbridge and Dartmouth any day of the week.
