Glorious Chorus are obviously a group of singers who enjoy doing just that.
The fact that they hold workshops for voices and perform concerts is testament to their commitment to their hobby.
They wish to make singing more accessible to all. I thought it was from birth.
Why is it that these “hobbyists” would expect the Government – by lobbying – to come up with monetary funding?
Why would you expect taxpayers to fund your pleasure activities?
I have belonged to various hobby groups in my lifetime going back to the 1950s when I left school, including darts teams, cycling club, table tennis, badminton, Dartmoor walking and latterly the South Brent Island Trust and, my goodness, we needed a lot of money for that.
Villagers worked hard fundraising and some individuals very hard to get financial help from the National Lottery. As for the Government? They run the country not our leisure interests, so the answer is no.
Take responsibility for your own lives and interests. It makes it far more worthwhile.
Oh, and pay a visit to the Island in South Brent. You’ll see how worthwhile giving your time and efforts can be.
