A CAR parking crisis in a quiet village has come to a head, with residents demanding action is taken to stop streets becoming choked with vehicles.
Residents of Lee Mill say their quality of life is being compromised by the increasing number of parked cars squeezed into residential streets, and the number of vehicles passing through.
Anger has been brewing for some time according to locals, and last Friday a public meeting was held to thrash the problem out. MP Gary Streeter chaired the get-together, which was attended by Devon county councillor John Hart, South Hams councillor Ian Blackler, Sparkwell Parish Council chairman Andy Hartley, and more than 40 residents.
The small community, just west of Ivybridge is home to an industrial estate, as well as a vast Tesco Extra supermarket accessed from the Plymouth direction via residential Plymouth Road.
Some at the meeting blamed the problems on people leaving their cars in the village in order to share lifts onwards, with New Park Road and Plymouth Road described as a ‘dumping ground’ for vehicles.
