THREE Year 9 students from Ivybridge Community College spoke up against stereotyping when they took part in the Rotary Youth Speaks Competition.
Alice Taylor, Hannah Carroll and Gracie Purdy travelled to a local secondary school to take part in the competition against seven other teams.
According to an ICC spokesman, they talked ‘confidently and eloquently’ about stereotyping in society, and were commended by the judges for their natural and fluent qualities.
The spokesman added: ‘Although the team were fantastic they were pipped to the winners’ podium by two other local schools but they enjoyed themselves and were a credit to the college. Here’s looking forward to next year.’
