SKILFUL youngsters from two South Hams primary schools have faced off in a sporty ’multiskills’ contest.

Key Stage 1 children from The Erme Primary School in Ivybridge and Shaugh Prior Primary School took part in the event at The Erme.

Two teams from The Erme and one team from Shaugh Prior competed at seven different multiskills events, involving a range of skills including throwing, catching and jumping.

The two primaries are part of the Moorsway Federation along with Cornwood C of E School.

A spokesman for the federation said all the teams had worked exceptionally hard and demonstrated confidence in a range of skills. They added the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all, including the parents who came to support.

Leo from Shaugh-Prior said: ’I really enjoyed the beanbag throwing because I kept going and didn’t give up.’

Sophie from The Erme added: ’The standing long jump was fun because you got to see how far you can go.’

KS1 Leader at The Erme Leanne Askew commented: ’It was lovely to see children from across the federation come together and there was a lovely sense of team spirit from all of the children. Well done to all of the children who participated and thank you to the parents who watched and supported.’
