PUPILS at Ivybridge’s Stowford School got a chocolatey surprise on the last day of the spring term when 500 Easter eggs were delivered.

Year 6 pupil Izzy and her mum Val Law entered the school into a competition on radio station Heart, with a chance to win the huge consignment of seasonal treats if the presenter’s son could say the word ’egg’ before Easter.

Listeners were given a clue as to the winning school when headteacher Helen Tipping was asked to say ’Good morning’ on air. Her voice was recognised by many of the Stowford children, who hurried to school where the eggs were presented in front of a large audience of staff, pupils and parents.

Heart personality Josh Andrews stayed on to judge the annual egg competition, and attend the final assembly of the term.

Mrs Law said: ’I never win anything so couldn’t believe it when it was announced that Stowford had won an egg for every child. I think Izzy must be the most popular girl in the school today!

’I’m so glad that I took the time to enter and I hope all the children enjoy their extra end of term treat.’
