TV weather presenter Bee Tucker, centre, crowned six of the best carnival princesses in South Brent as a week of fun and merry-making got underway.

Bee welcomed hundreds of visitors to the street fair on Saturday, which traditionally marks the start of the week.

Next up in her series of official duties was the crowning of the young women who will adorn the elaborate float that will represent South Brent at many carnival parades throughout the summer.

Decked out in their very best carnival finery, the group were happy to be presented with personal trophies to mark the occasion.

This year's carnival six are Antonia Matthews, Imogen Rooke, Amber Howard-Jones, Lilian Neale, Angel Weston, and Shannon Camp.
