A local theatre company is set to perform one of Alan Ayckbourn’s most popular works this summer.

The Ivybridge Theatre Company will be performing Bedroom Farce at The Watermark, on July 6, 7 and 8, starting at 7.45pm each night.

The play explores the varying pressures of relationships at their different stages, slicing deep into the soul of suburbia.

Director Sandra Dudley said: “Everyone knows and loves Ayckbourn’s plays and this is Ayckbourn at his absolute best.

“Over the course of one night, one outrageously selfish couple parade their problems around the bedrooms of three other couples, exposing the cracks in other people’s marriages as well as their own.”

The theatre group will also be holding a gala night in conjunction with the Mayor of Ivybridge, raising money for the mayor’s charities, the Ivybridge Foodbank and Ivybridge youth projects. The gala night will feature a cheese and wine reception at 6.45pm, before the evening performance.

The build up to the play’s three night run begins on Saturday, June 17, when the company will be staging an event on a bed outside the Watermark showcasing short extracts from the play. Why not go along between 9.30am and 12.30pm.
