A CHARITY concert is being given by the South Hams Singers to raise money for Dementia Friendly Parishes around the Yealm.

The community choir is celebrating St George’s Day on Saturday, April 23 with a concert celebrating English music at All Saints Church, Holbeton at 7.30pm.

South Hams Singers was formed two years ago, and has performed in various venues to raise funds for charitable causes.

Dementia Friendly Parishes around the Yealm is a community project helping people with dementia remain active in their communities, and supporting their families. It works to promote dementia awareness across the parishes of Wembury, Brixton, Yealmpton, Newton and Noss and Holbeton.

Chairman of South Hams Singers Ann Rayner said: ’We are delighted to be fundraising for this important community project supporting people with dementia and their families in our local villages.

’We hope people will come to the concert and have a happy evening celebrating everything that is English - St George, the English rose and of course Shakespeare. There will be some community singing with the choir so come and join in’.

Dementia Friendly Parishes project coordinator Maxine Kennedy added: ’South Hams Singers have been very generous with their time to put this concert on, and I think it will be a memorable evening. There will refreshments and a raffle to help raise an outstanding amount on the night’.

Tickets can be obtained from Maxine on 07450 206312, or on the door.
