IVYBRIDGE Caring volunteers said a fond farewell to Phillip Dredge at their annual general meeting this month.

The group presented him with gifts to show their appreciation for his seven years of service to the befriending group.

Phillip has been a trustee and treasurer since the group first started, and has seen it grow to include more than 40 volunteers in that time.

Ivybridge Caring volunteers support the elderly and isolated in the Ivybridge area wherever they can, giving time to carers and running the Memory Cafe at the Sportsmans Inn.

New volunteers are always needed, and the group offer full training and careful matching with suitable clients after the volunteer has successfully completed the appropriate police checks.

The office is open at the community office, on the second floor of the Watermark, every Wednesday and Thursday morning from 9.30am to 12pm.
