An Ivybridge man has been found not guilty of strangulation after the prosecution offered no evidence against him.
Antony Cioffi, 45, of Whingreen Court, had been accused of intentionally strangling a woman in Plymouth on May 14, 2025.
Mr Cioffi previously pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared at Plymouth Combined Court in July, represented by Ali Rafati KC.
At a mention hearing at Plymouth Crown Court on September 15, His Honour Judge Levene ordered a verdict of not guilty to be entered under Section 17 of the Criminal Justice Act 1967 after the prosecution offered no evidence.
The court has now lifted all bail conditions, while the defendant’s eligible legal costs will be paid from central funds.
