The Flete 10K and Family Fun Run has been organised by Ivybridge Rotary Club and will be held this Saturday, September 12.

There are three races in total: 10k , 5k and 1k. This is the second year for this event.

Set in the surroundings of the stunning Flete Estate near Ivybridge, this is a multi-terrain race which will see participants running across track between open fields and then onto footpath as you run through shaded woodlands which follow the River Erme.

Race director Paul Fletcher says it’s a unique event: “It’s a great privilege to be able to access the Flete Estate which is not usually accessible to the public.

“We already have around 200 people signed up expect this to rise to around 250 with entries on the day.”

Whether you're an experienced runner or looking for a race that will truly challenge you whilst running through impressive countryside, the Flete 10K (3pm start - Blue Route) promises a memorable and rewarding experience for all who dare to take it on, as does the 5K (1pm start- Yellow Route).

The 1K fun run - 2pm start - one lap of the fenced cricket pitch then up to the path, turnaround and straight to the finish line - this is suitable for younger boys and girls.

Paul says all the money raised goes to a couple of great causes: “Our local charity this year is the Ivybridge Brewing Co which employs young disabled people and our national charity is the British Heart Foundation.”

Organisers welcome both seasoned athletes and newcomers to the course and look forward to an unforgettable event that celebrates the spirit of competition, community and the love of running whilst raising money for charity.

England Athletics licence standards requires organisers to provide a list of medical conditions to their medical provider for use on race day.

GDPR regulations must be followed.

This allows for use of the data in connection with the race but will not be held by the medical provider beyond race day.

This is in addition to the need for a medical template on the reverse of the bib number.
