LOCAL artist Angela Thomas is staging an exhibition of ’Italian paintings’ at Lukesland House near Ivybridge this weekend.

The exhibition is running from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, September 3 and Sunday 4 at the house, between Ivybridge and Harford.

Angela’s Italian paintings are the fruits of six months devoted to painting scenes from the Life of St Francis in 2014/2015. The works were originally created to feature in the film Finding Francis directed by her brother, Paul Alexander.

Angela started painting aged six with her father, who was also an artist. She was forbidden from going to art school by this ‘very Victorian’ father, but continued to paint, draw, exhibit and sell her pictures throughout her working life.

In 2000 she finally became a professional artist, working in her favourite media pen, ink, watercolour and oil collage. She has had many exhibitions and taken part in the Open Studios scheme.
