She should reflect that, had this incident using DIY tools as weapons occurred in practically any other country of the world, the routinely carrying of firearms being the norm, her father would have been fatally shot, instead of being safely transferred to Broadmoor. 

I find the police being able to shrug off the serious and bloody violence upon them through light humour particularly encouraging.
