New interactive electronic boards in a pub are displaying up-to-date local news from our website alongside events and information.
The Regal Club in Kingsbridge has had interactive boards installed, which, alongside euchre and pool competition results, upcoming events, menus and old photos of the pub and the area, has our South Hams Gazette news page running.
Punters can check out all the latest happenings in the South Hams while they have a pint, and can click on headlines and read the full stories. They can also check out the league tables of sports and the menu, all from the same place.
Stuart Nuttall, editor of South Hams Newspapers said: “It is great that customers can keep up to date with the latest news from Kingsbridge and across the district while they’re enjoying their visit to the Regal Club.
“It's certainly a novel idea from our point of view, and we are pleased to see that customers are already taking advantage of the service.”
Club manager Georgina Turner said: “[Bill Patrick, owner], with his engineering background, is always keen to utilise the most recent technology, and this is another example of this. Our pool and euchre results used to be on pieces of paper around the bar, now we can put them on here and everyone can see them.”
Georgina is keen to add more old photos of the pub through the years and of Kingsbridge, so if you have any that you wouldn’t mind going on their display, contact her via email: [email protected]
Mr Patrick told us that he had plans to put similar boards on the outside of the building and even one on the back of a trike, which could be ridden and parked around the town.
