SOUTH Brent’s brand new Parish Plan will be launched on Friday, with the public warmly invited to come along to the event.
The ’South Brent Parish Plan 2016+’ is the result of months of hard work and consultation with locals on how they would like the village to move forward in the coming years.
Although thoroughly rewritten and based on new evidence, this plan ’stands on the shoulders’ of previous plans produced in 2003 and 2009.
The 2016+ plan presents the following vision for South Brent: ’A safe and sustainable, diverse and inclusive community which supports a thriving local economy, increasingly adaptable to local and global challenges and with the resources which allow both people and the natural environment around them to flourish.’
The plan sets out the intention to carry out a traffic and transport survey of the village, leading to the creation of a road safety action plan focusing on Exeter, Plymouth and Totnes Roads. It also puts South Brent’s Community Land Trust at the centre of efforts to create genuinely affordable housing and business starter units.
The process has been overseen by the parish council, which is hosting the launch event on Friday, July 29 at 7.30pm in the Old School Centre, Totnes Road.
Refreshments will be available, and the evening will also see winners of the prize draw for filling in the questionnaire receive their prizes.
The plan can be read in full at www.futuresouthbrent.btck.co.uk, and is also available on the community computers at the Old School Centre. A summary leaflet is being distributed to households in the village.
