UNDER fives and their families flocked to South Brent on Saturday to get up close and personal with some of Dartmoor Zoo’s smaller creatures.

Organised by SeaMoor Children’s Centre and hosted at The Den in the village, the event saw the zoo introducing children and their families to creepy crawlies including snakes and African giant land snails.

A spokesman for SeaMoor said the event had gone really well, with a ‘huge turnout’ of youngsters and more than 70 accompanying adults. Everyone present had had lots of fun, and the presence of the animals had encouraged interaction between adults and children.

The spokesman added they were particularly pleased with the number of dads that attended the event, which had been aimed partly at SeaMoor’s dads’ group. Ian Blackwell from the Dangerous Dads network was also on hand to tell people about his organisation.
