LOCAL charity South Brent & District Caring is asking members of the public to come forward with donated gifts or promises it can auction in an upcoming fundraiser.

Each year the charity has to raise £25,000 to continue its vital services, helping elderly and vulnerable people in the area continue living independently. It aims to hold two big events each year to raise money, and has not run an auction since 2014.

So on Friday, November 25, it is holding a charity auction of gifts and promises at South Brent Village Hall. The evening starts at 6.30pm, when the bar opens and viewing begins, before the action starts at 7.30pm.

Auctioneer Nic Saintey from Bearnes, Hampton & Littlewood is providing his services free, and a local string quartet will play before the auction starts in earnest.

The last auction featured a book about the Lord of the Rings films signed by the author and by director Peter Jackson, an original painting by Picasso’s muse Lydia Corbett painting, and a week in a holiday gite in France donated by one of the charity’s volunteers.

Ahead of the event, South Brent & District Caring are asking for donations of items or promises that could form part of the auction. Do you have anything collectible or unique you would care to donate, or can you offer a promise of an activity or service?

If you would like to help, please contact the charity’s office on 01364 700282 or email [email protected] .
