THE future of a historic South Hams golf club has been secured following its sale to the owners of another nearby club.
Wrangaton Golf Club will retain its identity after been bought by the owners of Bovey Tracey Golf Club.
The club had a lot of interest from a number of club owners across the country as well as potential buyers who wanted to return the land to agricultural use.
New owners Richard and Jane Barter completed the sale for an undisclosed fee, thought to be close to the £500,000 price guide, on Tuesday, April 21.
The Barter family said: 'We are delighted and honoured to be taking on ownership of Wrangaton Golf Club and will be working hard, together with our staff to ensure its future success.
'Being located in such a beautiful part of the world, we know there is real potential for the club to increase its membership and attract golfers from across the country.
'Crucially, we see Wrangaton as complementary to Bovey Tracey.
'The two clubs will each retain their own identity, but members will have the opportunity for dual membership if they wish.
'We will be contacting Wrangaton Golf Club members about new membership arr-angements in due course.'
