I’m sorry, but I think John Sprague must have his Daily Mail blinkers on with regard to Tory mp Sarah Wollaston, Gazette, December 11.

She is currently pushing for sugar tax – great news. But I hasten to add not real news: the potholes on our roads are ­nothing compared with the holes that our and our allies’ bombers are doing to Syria at the moment, not to mention the deaths of innocents and us ­taxpayers paying for it the same as the tax I’ll be paying on my rich tea biscuits.
