Once again there was nowhere for me and my moped to park in the Fore Street car park motorcycle parking area.

The huge number of four bikes needed to fill the meagre space designated to our ­parking were already there, plus two more – and then me on mine. Oh, where to go?

When I wrote before about the shrunken space for motorcycle parking following the revamp of the car park, the reply was that the parking had been monitored before the work took place and was wrongly, I think, deemed not necessary to be as large as it was before.

Maybe it was monitored in the depths of winter or not over a long enough period of time, so not gathering a fair assessment of use.

The use of the motorcycle parking always goes up as the weather improves, and also fair-weather bikers appear from other places to enjoy Fore Street.

So come on South Hams Council, give us a larger motorcycle parking area and give bikes a chance.

Incidentally, this time when I couldn’t park there was not one single car parked in the five car parking bays.
