On Thursday the vets’ section held their annual vets’ masters competition.
The course was not playing easily as the blustery winds and heavy showers swept across the Western Beacon.
Peter Barraud came out on top of the pack with a fantastic score of 38 points, finishing one point ahead of Steve Woodcock.
Peter has recently invested in some new golf equipment which was fitted by the professional staff at the club; it was great to see him crowned the 2015 Wrangaton vets’ masters champion.
The members and guest day took place on Saturday; the weather was very kind with the sun shining on the course all day.
The participants made the most of the kind conditions as the scoring was very good. Ian Black and his guest David Michie came out on top with a fantastic score of 43 points.
Peter Swift and his guest Mr R Newcombe managed to score 41 points, beating Sean McCarthy and guest Fred Nurse on countback.
Tim Nand-Lal and guest Rob Lovell scored 39 points, finishing fourth on countback and they also managed the only two all day.
On Sunday Wrangaton’s Dartmoor league team travelled to Fingle Glen, where they earned an impressive win.
The results were as follows: Garry Daw and Dean Dickerson lost two and one. Sean Biddis and Chris Furnival lost on the last. Pete Blackler and Matt Thorn won two and one. Ian Black and Elliot Jewel won seven and six. Jonathan Axten and Matt Thorn won three and two.
The annual centenary match took place at Great Torrington on Sunday. The competition is between Wrangaton, Exeter, Torrington and Mullion. It was Torrington’s turn to host the event.
Wrangaton sent a team of 12 men and 12 lady members and managed to bring the trophy home with them. It’s the first time in a long time the host club has not won the event so a great result for the team.
