Former Ivybridge Rugby Club player Henry Slade has again been named as part of the match day squad for England’s clash against Australia this weekend.

Slade, who has already appeared off the bench against Fiji and Argentina to double his international cap tally to four, will hope to showcase his undoubted ability again as England look to make it four wins on the bounce against the southern hemisphere heavyweights.

Australia will certainly be smarting as they saw their hopes of a grand slam tour dashed by defeat to Ireland last weekend, while conversely England will be on a high after beating Argentina despite being a man down for 75 minutes of the match following Elliot Daly’s red card.

Although given little time to shine thus far, Slade, who is from Yealmpton and plays for Exeter Chiefs in the Aviva Premiership, has nonetheless made an impact in both the Old Mutual Wealth Series matches he has featured in this autumn.

He set up a try with a delightful pass against Fiji before putting in a bone-crunching hit on a rampaging Pumas player last weekend to stop an attack in its tracks.

His supporters will be hoping for more of the same this weekend as England chase an unbeaten 2016 under England’s Australian coach Eddie Jones.
