EMERGENCY services were called to Cornwood Road in Ivybridge in the early hours of Saturday morning, to reports of a car having rolled over onto its roof with a strong smell of petrol.
A fire crew from Ivybridge attended, and discovered the car on its roof by the side of the carriageway at the junction of Holtwood Drive and Cornwood Road.
A spokesperson for the police said: ‘We were informed by the ambulance service at 3.35am that a blue Peugeot 206 was on its roof, in poor condition with a considerable amount of debris on the road.
‘South West Highways attended the scene to clear-up the road.
‘The driver was not at the scene, but we have since identified and spoken to him.’
