FIREFIGHTERS rushed to a South Hams hamlet on Sunday evening after reports of a chimney fire.

A fire engine and its crew from Buckfastleigh were sent to Lutton near South Brent at about 6.45pm, where they found a small fire in the chimney of a woodburner.

Firefighters used tools including specialist chimney equipment and a thermal image camera to check the fire was extinguished, before leaving the scene in the hands of the house’s occupant.
