More than 100 people got into the swing of things at a tea dance to raise funds for Dementia Friendly Parishes around the Yealm.

The event was held at Brixton St Mary’s Primary School, and hosted by Sunset Swing and the Brixton Village-airs.

The many people in attendance were entertained with an afternoon of swing music and singing, and enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea.

£540 was raised for Dementia Friendly Parishes around the Yealm, a project aiming to improve life for dementia sufferers, their families and carers in Brixton, Yealmpton, Wembury, Newton and Noss and Holbeton.

The event was organised by Colin and Jenny George. Colin is a member of Sunset Swing as well as a Brixton resident.

The couple were thanked by those who attended the dance for organising a heart warming event on a cold winter afternoon.
