THE Collati Singers are giving a free concert in Buckfast Abbey this month, conducted by Trefor Farrow.

Taking place on Saturday, September 17 at 7.30pm, the programme includes Bach motet Lobet den Herrn, Christopher Tye’s Euge Bone mass, Missa Brevis by Richard Rodney Bennett and Britten’s Hymn to St Cecilia, the patron saint of music. Entrance is free, with a retiring collection, and pre-concert drinks and snacks are available in the Grange restaurant from 6pm.

The Collati Singers rehearse every Tuesday in Bittaford and are always interested in recruiting new members. In particular, there will be vacancies for experienced bass and soprano singers to join the group following this concert.

The singers perform a cappella works from the Renaissance and 20th and 21st century choral traditions. Potential members should be fluent music readers with a good sense of pitch and sensitivity to ensemble singing.
