SOUTH West Devon MP Gary streeter has paid a visit to a local success story engineering firm based at Lee Mill.
Civil and structural engineers Brody Forbes specialise in the design and manufacture of ’geodetic domes’ used to protect hi-tech radar and communications electronics.
The particular design the company wanted to show off to Mr Streeter was the ’Radome’, a large hemispherical structure made from an aluminium frame and glass reinforced plastic cover.
10 are being made for a foreign government, although the company has orders to construct more, larger Radomes from different materials.
Director Robert Sedgbeer said the company is keen to expand from its Lee Mill Industrial Estate base to bigger premises, and will be taking on more local people in the near future.
Mr Streeter said: ’I am thrilled that Brody Forbes are expanding and employing local skilled people. I am now seeking to help them secure the right premises to help them expand in this area over the next few years.
’80 per cent of their products are exported so it’s precisely the kind of company the government wants to encourage.’
