OWNERS of independent small businesses and shops in Ivybridge are invited to a friendly, informal open evening on Monday, a chance to get together and consider how to promote the town.
Organised by Pat White, owner of Footnote Shoe Shop and recently elected chairman of the town’s chamber of commerce, the event is taking place on Monday, April 4, from 5.30pm to 7pm at The Watermark.
In attendance will be Plymouth City Centre Manager Jon Walton, who will share his knowledge and experience to help business owners remind people what Ivybridge has to offer, as well as PL:21, the local Transition Town group.
Stowford Mill owners Burrington Estates have been invited, to tell people about the development of the mill and their plans going forward.
The evening will also see the offer of a marketing initiative that local businesses can get involved in, and reap the benefits of a cohesive town strategy.
In her invitation letter, Pat writes: ’Independent businesses and shops are the foundation of our community, and when we grow so does the local economy with new jobs and opportunities for our town.
’I would like to think that you will benefit in joining me and other businesses to promote our town, to make a difference and to get people shopping locally. Please come and see us, even if it is only to say ‘hello’ and introduce your business. I would be delighted to see you.’
