A LOCAL funeral director with offices in Ivybridge and Plympton has donated £1,000 to good causes.

The Walter C Parson Group donates money to local charitable causes each year, in lieu of sending out Christmas cards.

This year’s chosen beneficiaries were The Cavitron Fund, which works to support neurosurgery at Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital, the YMCA, St Judes Church, Saltash District Guides, and Torpoint & Mount Edgecumbe Guide Association.

Assistant to the managing director John Ware said: ‘Instead of sending Christmas cards, we always get great satisfaction knowing we are helping local organisations, and the people we normally would send Christmas cards to fully understand why we do this.

‘We still send an ‘e card’ to everyone to let them know this year’s nominated causes chosen by our area managers. We are delighted to be able to assist such good causes at this time of year.’
